Priscilla Sotela was born in Costa Rica in 1985 and lives and works in Chile. She studied Architecture, Graphic Design and Photography, disciplines that continue to influence her artistic practice.

Priscilla began painting during the pandemic, initially exploring shapes and colors, this exploration soon evolved into architectural volumes which she filled with bold color, searching for high contrast and visual balance. Her background in photography informes her approach to composition, light, color and perspective.

Her work has continued to evolve through different forms and techniques, including single-line drawings and, more recently, the exploration of shadows and organic movement, always with a strong emphasis in color.

Materials and objects she find in hardware stores as well as elements discovered during her travels, have become an important par of her creative process. Many of her works begin with photographs she takes herself, capturing shaped, textures, shadows, or compositions that later become the starting point for a new piece.
